Each piece, written by three of the greatest contemporary composers of our time, will entertain and educate audiences of all ages.

One of the most widely known works of Russian composer Serge Prokofiev is his tale for children Peter and the Wolf. Written in 1936 for a narrator and orchestra, it is a simple piece that introduces children to the instruments of the orchestra by allowing the instruments to represent characters in the story. Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone narrates the whimsical tale of Peter and the animals he encounters while walking through a meadow.

American composer Aaron Copland achieved a distinctive musical portrayal of American themes with an expressive modern style. This unique style can be heard in Lincoln Portrait. Written in 1942 for a speaker and chorus, this patriotic wartime contribution includes heroic music and uplifting spoken words, taken from Abraham Lincoln's speeches. With the help of Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Samuel L. Jackson, Lincoln Portrait evokes the spirit of the early pioneers, travelling into the vast open American landscapes.

Benjamin Britten, the leading British composer of the mid-20th century, composed The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra in 1945 to accompany an educational film presenting the instruments of the orchestra. Britten wrote a set of variations on a theme by Henry Purcell. Academy Award and Grammy winner Cher takes the listener on an entertaining and enchanting musical tour through the orchestra -- first as a whole, then in sections and finally individually.
